I made the decision to switch to Voicestream. How tough are they to get? I have a 681 FICO, no negatives, but very high credit utilization on my major credit cards. I have had no hard inquiries in over one year. Anyone see any problem? I am getting two phones, one for me and one for my son who is turning 21 and has never had any type of credit. Would they put him on the account, or is the account for one person only? I told him he needs to start establishing credit. Will they report to the CRA's for both of us if we do get a joint account?
I have scores that should be less than yours. Old Ch7 on there too. No problems. Here's my skinny on the service. As far as the service goes.. I wish I would have paid more attention that there is no Night & Weekends just Weekends in there plans. I like the phone I have, the Motorola P280 because I can get my email from any POP3 account and they charge by the data transfer not the minute. Most people I know with Voicestream has either the family plan (free to call the other phones in the plan)or in some markets they have a "call any voicestream mobile phone for free" or that very popular 3000 anytime minutes plan which is $49 in some markets and $59 in others. I left Sprint and my girlfriend switched to Sprint from Cellular 1 shortly after that. Sprint phones are very very succeptable to dropping calls unexpectedly especially when moving in a car. With the Voicestream phone I have I either have a good signal or I dont. No surprises when the signal drops. One thing about Sprint is that the analog roam sure comes in handy (when it works) when in a rural areas! Also you will find the BEST offers on Voicestream phones at Amazaon.com . They have the phone I have now FREE(after rebate) while the Voicestream stores are still selling them for $150!!
Sprint has been good to me and their service has been great. But, son's girlfriend is going away to school, she got Voicestream because of the minutes, and it looks like this is the way to go. Thanks for the tip on Amazon. I will check it out.
You should have no problems. Either use Amazon's website or Voicestream.com They have the motorola P193 and the Nokia 3390 for free. There have been approval issues at the strores for almost everyone I know (even an attorney making 100+ k from a govt. job) Love voicestram and the service.....
You will have no problem. I got a them with scores in the 500's at that time and was approved for up to 4 phones. Kim
As far as I know, they don't ever report to the CRAs. I've had a voicestream phone for 3 years. They checked my credit when I got it and made me pay a $250 deposit that I got back after a year. I think the credit check is just to determine if they want you to make a deposit. Of course, if you don't pay your bill, I'm sure they'll slap something on your report. I've paid up to 2 months late and never had a problem though..
A family member got their phone and told me about their service. They have a special credit service plan which allows those they deem to be high risk to get a phone but are limited to the national plan I think she said. No weekends or additional phones and no 3000 minutes. Once you pay on time for 6 months, then you can do whatever you want to do. There is a credit limit. I think she got $150. They will turn the phone off automatically when it goes beyond that limit even if you aren't late with payment. I don't know if it's just in this area or all over.
