I had a credit card with Wachovia and the name changed to First USA. I paid the acct off but for some reason First USA can't find my payment of $800.00. I've even given them the payment confirmation #, and a statement from my bank, but they still can't locate this payment and we are now going to court. My question is this, once First USA took over the accounts from Wachovia wasn't a new account # issued? They're trying to tell me that the $800.00 was applied to another credit card. I only had one card thru them. Any help would be appreciated.
Have you filed an answer and your affirmative defenses to the court? If not that is the way to deal with the problem.
