Does anyone have a Walmart store card that was converted from a Wards card? If so, have you called in to try to reduce the Apr? The only reason I accepted the card was for use at Sam's Club (I do not have/want a Discover card) and it is one of my three retail store cards. I noticed the applications at the store state you can get a variable rate as low as something like 11.49% Well, being a former Wards card holder, it was at 22.6% I called to request a lower APR (I assumed I would get the 11.49% considering my credit scores and good history with Monogram Bank of Georgia). Guess what, becuase I was a converted Wards card holder there was no way to have my APR reduced. The only way possible would be to close my account and reapply. But then I have to close a card that I have had opened for almost 5 years, take a inquiry hit, just to get a stupid Walmart card again. Besides, I always pay it off in full every month, but it's the principle of the whole thing. Has anyone (who is a converted Wards card holder) been successful in getting their APR reduced. My next step is sending a letter into them. Please let me know. Thanks.
MINE WAS "PRE-APPROVED"...it's at 15.99% They said they DON'T change the interest rate!!! I have taken FULL advantage of the 0.00% with NO payments...the card is MAXED at 100%
Hey George, What a bunch of crap. I was told they only refuse to change APR for former Wards card holders that got their cards automatically changed into a Walmart card. Now your telling me they won't change the APR for anyone. I have their customer service address written down here somewhere. I will be writing them to try to get them to lower it. I'll let you know if I have any success.
Re: Walmart Card (formerly Wards) A George, I have Sam Club Credit and they sent me a new type of credit card with magnetic stripe. They lower my rate to 11.40 fixed APR. It is accepted in Walmart Stores. Ron.
Re: Walmart Card (formerly Wards) A Try writing a letter through Planetfeedback.com. It will be much faster, plus they know you mean business. They don't want a scorned customer. Especially one with internet access (you could let every board know the problems you are having). Wouldn't be good advertising for them. Good luck!
