Hey folks just wanted to let you know my experience from the Wa Mu/Chase buy out:

I called chase in early march right after they took over the Wa Mu website and I change my Wa Mu CC to a Chase Freedom CC got it in the mail 7 days later. The transition for me was seemless, same cl, same account number and APR, the new CC even showed i was a memeber since 2003. As a precaution I am using this card pretty hard to show chase I'm a good customer so I dont get my cl slashed. :)
FYI i always pay this card off on time and keep a zero statement balance, never been late. 16k limit

    Hope this helps someone

    Happy Easter

My WAMU went to Chase as well, but I needed not to do anything.

I'm hoping they don't cut me but, wouldn't be surprised if they did.

    Wamu to Chase

    Hello:
From a newbie, both my sister and I have Wamu credit cards that made the switch to Chase. So far we have not had to do anything except change the user id and passwords for our online accounts, but in reading the posts it looks like we might be getting new cards with the Chase logo on them and such. So now I feel like this is a good time to post the question that no one that I have talked to, or anywhere that I have read so far has been able to answer. And that is: How does one go about cancelling credit cards once they have been paid off? The Wamu one is the one that I have had the longest, it is also one that I have to pay a fee just to have, the highest interest rate. My credit isn't really all that great, but it was good enough to warrant another credit card from HSBC with no fees. I just want them all gone once I pay them off. And in the future, if I can't pay cash then I do need the blasted item I want to buy or just save my money and pay cash.
I have heard that you don't want to cancel any credit cards because in can hurt your credit, right now I really don't care about my credit and I know that I should. My concren is having to pay a fee just to have the doggone thing even if I'm not using it and hike the interest rate and lower my spending limit.
    Thanks

I can understand about the fees etc. However if they have a good history by buying a hamburger once in a while and keep you ratio under 10% they will help you down the road.Everybody getting hiked and reduced,so just reduce your spending on your card.Remember you can refuse the rate hike and they'll close if for you.

MY WAMU does not cost an annual feel, but they have a huge interest rate like 20 percent! This is one of the cards I NEVER EVER have a balance on credit line is only 3k) but I am not going to cancel it . I think that you should figure out what your score is and then figure it will go down a bit if you close your card. Myself if I had another credit card or could get another I owuld get rid of the annual fee card as to me it is a killer. Oh one more thing why not call and ASK if they can waive the annual fee? They probably won't do it but you never know, and while your at it ask for a lesser interest rate as well. : )
