I went on Citi's AT&T web site as a do every day to check my balance and there was a link asking you if you would like to find out if you qualify for a credit increase. I clicked on the link thinking it was informational and it automatically generated a request for a limit increase!!!!

I wrote to the company via e-mail told them of my mistake and they said "Sorry once you do anything online it is perminant and cannot be changed." The kicker is I did this a month ago inadvertantly and could not figure out why I got a snail-mail letter saying I cannot qualify for a credit increase until the account has been opened six months. Now I will have three Citi inquires on my CR for no reason. STAY AWAY from that linK!!!!!

I assume you read all the fine print and there was no warning that a report would be pulled?

If that's the case I'd print out the website leading up to the button and send them a demand to recode the inq's to PRM. Or be sued.

    ???

Do you think if I sent my coorespondance to Transunion that they would delete it or place it as a soft inquiry?

    Nopie,

They'll just tell you to talk to the OC.

Butch - can't see what grounds you could sue under, considering you gave them permission (and business purpose) to make any inquiries deemed necessary to process application, manage account (including credit line), renew account, approve purchases, etc.

If they so desired (and wanted to waste the money) they could make a hard inquiry for every purchase you try to make... with your full permission granted, as evidenced on the original application.
