I just received my card and went to set up online access, after answering ENTIRELY too many questions they had you check a box to agree for them to pull your credit report????????? For account online access I don't think so
Bailey, Is this to activate the card or just to use on-line payments. I believe we both applied the same day and I still have not rec'd the card. What state do you live in?
tommyy I live in MD. This was just to access your account online and make payments. I normally do this with all my accounts, but I think I will pass on this one, I have vowed no new inquiries this year hehe. But seriously I think it is terrible that they want to run your credit to give you online access.
DON'T CHECK THE BOX...or call and ask them if they really think it is a "PERMISSABLE REASON" to "PULL" a credit report to "SIGN UP FOR ON-LINE ACCESS"...
I agree with you Bailey. They probably want to sell you home or auto insurance (diffrent part of their company). I'm pretty sure all Insurance Co.s pull a hard inquiry for insurance. I just got Progressive, Geico, Allstate removed from my inq. list when i was shopping for rates. I applied and was approved on 12/27 and live in Ohio. Where did they mail the card from?
Bailey, Thanks for the warning. Have you asked them why they need to pull credit report for getting on-line access? I never heard of it even Citibank, NextCard or Capital One did that. Why did they pulled your credit report? You're not applying for card again and you're not applying for credit. You failed to see ehy pulling credit for on-line access. On-line doesn't need pulled credit report because they had your personal info in their record. All they did to match up your info in their record. I don't want another uunecessary inquiry in my credit report. Ron. Ron.
Um, George, yes they can. You give them OK to pull your report for any reason by accepting the card agreement (for servicing your account, authorizing transactions, and periodic review). You also give them the OK to share any and all information, including your credit report, if you DON'T opt-out when they send you the lovely 3-point type privacy/FCRA/Info-Sharing stuff in the mail. Nice to know EVERYONE knows EVERYTHING about 'ya, huh? -mj
I had state farm for auto insurance... And get this.. My car was struck by lightning (Act of God), and they freaken cancelled my insurance with them!! Granted the car was totalled, but how the heck am I supposed to dodge random lightning bolts! I was extremly peeved, and they did little to help me.. Blah.
This is actually a Soft Inquiry and is done to be able to identify you. Once they pull the report they ask a few questions from it to verify your identify and for you to get online access. This is how it appears on your credit report: 10/04/2001 ID-State Farm Mutual
I DON'T CARE IF IT'S A SOFT OR HARD...THEY DON'T NEED TO PULL EITHER, NO OTHER CREDIT CARD COMPANY OR BANK DOES THAT!!! When I get the "TOY" card, I'm calling to CLOSE NOT ACTIVATE!!! $1,000 IS A JOKE OF A CREDIT LIMIT!!!
Thanks I figured this was for identity purposes, but considering they just gave me a unsecured credit card line with them I would think this would have been enough.
Just received my card today! Just activated it also. I'm not worried about the soft inquiry! Almost all my accounts do A/R's quarterly.
Its very plain and a bit ugly but not as ugly as Target! You would think that part of their Marketing strategy would be to have a really neat card design. People would apply for it just for that reason!
