When I was in college I had two loans from Blazer finance...they used to send pre-approved 'checks' in the mail that you basically just sign and deposit, the back of the check had a contract on it. High interest but, when in college and in debt, you really don't care.
Anyway, they are all paid off but the name has changed (on my credit reports) to Washington Mutual. I am assuming there was a buy-out or merger of some sort.
The customer service at Blazer was bad. They basically treated you like a deadbeat no matter what. And it reported on my redit report as 'secured by household goods', whatever that means. Funny, my 'household goods' in college consisted of a hand-me-down couch and a broken microwave. HA!
I remember one time being about a month late on my payment and a rep from Blazer actually came to my house and told my roomate that I better pay up. Guess they got their business model from the mafia.
Hope this helps!
Washington Mutual bought out AMERICAN SAVINGS and HOME SAVINGS in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA...that is all I know about it...
