just opened a week ago. they're going to NY soon too. they seem to have decent products. Just giving the heads up I went in today and they were the nicest people I've even met in banking... They gave me a yoyo with their name on it. I question the symbolism, but enjoyed the gift. It's been years since I got a yoyo
A lot of people get them when they deal with a CA, CRA or Creditor. ====================== ======================== Sorry I couldn't resist
Washington Mutual has been in FL for about 3 years. They bought out Great Western Bank. They are based in CA. It depends on what branch you go to regarding friendly people. WARNING: be very careful when you sign-up for accounts. Some of the people don't disclose all the fees. My sister and my mother-in-law had that problem. I felt bad because I talked them into opening the account. But, I have not had a really bad experience with them, actually I've been quite satisfied especially with the fees. I just PFB'd them 2 days ago about bad customer service at one particular branch. But that's as bad as it is has gotten.
Depends on where you go. Good and bad customer service just like everywhere else. (referring to CA branches) I know several people who left them because of major screw ups on their accounts after their buyout of HSA and GW, even though they had a free checking product.
Washington Mutual is probably the only bank that I would bank at if I left the credit union (besides Citibank). A majority of my friends bank there and have NO PROBLEMS with them AT ALL. I know Dogman is a big fan of theirs. He opened up a Platinum checking account. You can do a search for his post about his experience. He was extremely happy. They do have a FEE FREE checking account as well (I thnk? Well...they use to).
According to www.bankrate.com they only need $1 to open the account. I think I am gonna try them out.
I think they based in the state of Washington and they bought out Home Savings of America in CA. Ron.
Applied in GA. (have chex issues., but good score). Gold option $100 CC deposit. We'll see if this will work out. They said they are in processing of the account and will send a "signature card" to me.
Ok....sweet setup... I called and got Dean (x5292) in the California office. He really seemed to have great delivery and knew the WAMU products. He talked me out of the gold plu account type and also got me hooked up with the no fee savings account using the automatic savings plan. Gave me my confirmation number (really your account number) and said that the signature card would arrive soon, and that I needed to call back once they received that to setup my automatic savings and order my checks. I LOVE IT!!!! Next up ... Reconsideration with Assoiates for a Mastercard.
