Well, if this isn't the hardest card to get! lol This was my second try. The first time, they said I had too many inquiries (5), and too much installment debt (I had a car loan, student loans and credit cards), so I was denied! I had no derogs and a score of 713! This time around, after bumping all inquiries down to just one, with no derogs, and a 720 EFX score, I tried again. I got the standard 7-10 day response message, but called them today. I was put on hold for almost 20 minutes before being transfered to a supervisor, who told me that my application was initially denied again! But she will approve me for the minimum credit line of $2,000, and I can increase it as I establish a history with them. Well, though the line sux major buttocks, I think I'll take it. I have an AMEX blue!
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! ! ! Feels good doesn't it? I just got my credit limit increased from $2k to $7k after only 6 months of having the card. I called the number on a thread last week and asked for centurian bank and they increased it without an inquiry or anything. All they wanted to know was hh income, that's it!!! There is hope!!!
I guess I should have that number ready for when it's time for me to call for my increase. What sort of rate did they give you with your initial $2000 limit? and did they lower it when you got your first increase?
I initially got 12.99 or 14.99 I think. I recently got it lowered to 7.99% fixed. Again there was a number to call and they were giving most Amex accounts 7.99% or the best terms for their accounts. I'm sorry I don't have any of the numbers. It was around christmas that I got the rate lowered. I don't remember who originally posted the #.
Re: Re: Well I finally got AMEX blue I HAVE 8.99% AMEX BLUE...they refused 7.99% for me!!! BUT THEY HATE ME!!! The number your looking for probably is 1-800-337-9555 (REPRICING) UYGF
Betacredit: I just tried to call Centurion Bank and had some difficulty getting put through to them. Did you bypass the automated system or did you press the option for CL increases? Would be useful to get your experience before I put another call into Amex. many thanks
WHAT OPTION FOR CREDIT LINE INCREASE??? Do you press some number on the phone for an "INSTANT" increase now on BLUE???
Actually no, I just called the number on the thread last week and asked to be put through to Centurion Bank. I was transferred to an automated phone system (which purported to be Centurion Bank) which had an option to hit a certain number it you have an Optima account and were calling Centurion Bank to discuss a line increase. I duly hit that option and got a quick recorded message saying to call a number (which I think was the regular Blue CS line) and the call terminated! Looks like others got through OK so maybe it's just me, I'll try again tomorrow
If you call new accounts within the 1st 30 days, you can get that line raised to probably $5,000 without an inquiry.
Re: Re: Well I finally got AMEX blue really?! I thought I've been hearing here that I have to wait about 6 months and then call them asking for centurion bank. When I got approved, I was told that I have to establish some kind of history with them before they would increase it... so has this worked for you before?
Re: Re: Re: Well I finally got AMEX blue Yes it has worked for me before. It has worked for others before as well. If you search the archives for marci, saar, breeze, sam, etc... you'll see what can happen. After your first 30 days are up, you do have to wait every 6 months like clockwork. The trick is to call new accounts.
Re: Re: Re: Well I finally got AMEX blue Ok, last question. Would this be 1-888-BLUE-741? or is there some special number other than that?
Re: Re: Re: Well I finally got AMEX blue Nevermind... I called them and got the new accounts number. Either way, they said no. punks! I was told it was because of information on my credit report, and they refuse to tell me what! I mean, I have zero derogs, and a current EFX FICO score of 726 (720 when they pulled it). So what is it that they see?! Blah
