I've read so much on this board and thought that I was beginning to understand this credit stuff. Apparently I was wrong. I have had 1 charge-off deleted and have made my payments on time, therefore lowering my balances on CC accounts but my score with EQ is still 529. That is what it was back in 02/02 before the deletion and paying 3-4 more payments and lowering balances. I've had no new credit added since last Sept. My scores w/TU=562; Privista=539; CreditExpert=611. Whatever!!!!! Also, if you dispute something on you CR do they have to provide you with the documentation that they were given to validate, etc? Some I disputed back in 02/02 were returned as 'Accounts w/$0 bal are considered closed and have been changed as so'. Does this mean the original creditor did not respond and EQ took it upon themselves to close it because of a zero bal? What a mess. Less than a year of hardship=years of HELL!!!!!!!! Any advice or opinion will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance. Also, thank you for having such great info on other threads!!! HeatherB
my experience is, until you get ALL the baddies gone, your score will suck. 1 6 year old collection (paid no less) kept my score in the low 600's with a ton of good credit low balances, etc. Once that baddy was gone, i have been in the 660-705 range since then. Keep disputing, is all i can say. It took 8 tries to get the last baddy of my equifax..
Honestly, I am sorry if you got the impression that your score will jump in such a short time and with just one deletion and paying down balances. It will take more time to see results....like more deletions. Patience is needed. And this board is not a crock. The testimonials prove that. Take your time. Relax.
Very Confused!! I was not referring to this board as a CROCK. I am referring to the whole score thing. I know that it will take more than one deletion, etc. The point I was trying to make is that the CRA websites say making payments on time, etc will improve your score. Well, mine has not moved 1 point in 3-4 months and I assumed and/or hoped that it would. I apologize that you felt like my opinion of this board was that of a CROCK as that is was not my intent. Maybe I should have titled it differently. Thank you for your response-I hope I haven't confused anyone else. HeatherB
Re: Very Confused!! Well, I tried to change the subject line but was to late. I don't want anyone thinking that I am referring to this board in a negative manner. Again, I do apologize. As always, thank you!! HeatherB
Re: Very Confused!! Ok heather your point is clear now. But here is something to think about. If paying on time was all it took to beat the CRA's this board would not exist. Dont take it personal. They are the screwed up ones.
Re: Very Confused!! Heather, hang in there and stick with it! Hubby and I have paid everything on time for over four years and my scores are still in the low-mid 600's. I think the others are right when they say that it takes the last baddie to get the really big score jump. Hubby's EQ was mid 600's with two derogs. and went to 785 when those were gone, TU was same range with four derogs. and went to 807 when those were gone! So, it works, it just takes time and some frustration along the way. Good luck and keep on learning here with us!
Re: Very Confused!! No problem, and we all agree the scoring is crocky, LOL. Hang in there. breeze =============== Are you sure? ---------------------------- lol

Re: Very Confused!! Double LOL Breeze-- You have coined a new word. Crocky R US The 3 Bureaus (Although this month I am *happy* with Ex and Eq and POd at TU. When I started, that was totally reversed. So go figure . . . ) We all get frustrated. The "system" seems like it is designed to torment us. But keep at it Heather- don't give up and it all will be worth it. It is funny. Out local paper had an article today that touted: Secrets for Improving Credit Score Revealed! http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/business/20020602-9999_1b2perry.html Oh Geez. Tell us something WE DON'T KNOW! Cheers-- Calypso
