What a difference 2 years makes

I wanted to just write a brief note, as I have reached several goals here lately, and I wanted to show those that are just getting started w/repair, or those in the throes of it now and getting frustrated that this stuff really works.

I first visited this board 2 years ago, knowing that my credit was in shambles as a result of late pays and overbalances on multiple accounts. Had a couple of collections too. Read and re-read threads here, got my reports from the agencies, and started my disputes. Got my first credit card post credit nightmare in April 2001. Made payments on time. Paid off several old accounts. Asked for goodwill adjustments and got some.

Over the past month, I have gotten approval to move into a nice, new apartment and have gotten a brand new car. My final goal is to get a mortage, but I can afford to wait two years for that one, as I want to take a break from this for a while, and save up for a down payment.

Good luck to all of you here, and just know that patience and persistence will get you where you want to go.

    Keltexx,

The more I read on this board of people's success stories, that is what keeps me plugging away at it. I'm hoping that 2 years down that road I will be able to come back and give my own sucess story.

    congradulations!!

I'm very happy to see people move out of the hole and into a more positive position. I wish you much more success in the future!!!

Thanks Kathy. Sometimes it seemed like I would never get out from under this stuff. But it can happen!

I still have high balance ratios, so I will probably focus on paying those down in the coming months.

Congrats on all the recent good fortune! :) I've been at this since I found this board in January of this year and have made some major improvements on my scores/credit, but still have a ways to go. Reading this kind of post makes me all the more determined to stick with it!

Congratulations! I find that since March, I've had about a 30 point increase in my FICO. Not great, but it's somethingl. I'm in total full force right now, and my goal is to have all baddies deleted by next January.

Thanks for updating on your situation. Sometimes you just want to quit from utter frustration. Posts from people who have succeeded really help us keep going!

Just keep at it. I think that taking a break every so often helps keep focused.

I advocate strongly the power of credit unions; if you have access to one, open an account today!

Also, don't be afraid to explain your situation in an objective way-for example, goodwill adjustments.

Also, planetfeedback has worked, bigtime, more times than not. But be aware that planetfeedback is dependent on the creditor, not PFB itself.

Yeah i came here with $0 in credit and now have about $80K in car and credit cards (total lines, not used) :).

Not trying to steal your glory, but the fact is if you stick around here, work hard, keep good habits, and just give it time .. this place works. nuff said

I totally agree Sam. You for one have helped me a great deal, particulary with the car.

Could someone please explain how PFB is dependent on the creditor? Thanks.

Once you submit through PFB, the response time of the creditor varies. Some respond within two days-some not at all.

I see what you mean. Whether you get feedback or not is up to the creditor. Planetfeedback is there to facilitate communication, acting as an intermediary. But most importantly for consumers, they are keeping tabs on which companies have been naughty or nice.

Instead of giving up on the companies that don't respond through Planetfeedback.com, I suggest all Credit-netter's use the "re-send letter" option if they don't hear anything in a reasonable amount of time.

Using that feature takes all of one second to do, and it probably logs another entry in that company's complaint column. Perhaps if their ratings suffer, they will try harder to answer our letters in the future, thus making it an even stronger resource for us.

I just used Planetfeedback, writing to four companies with complaints. One company actually responded to my specific complaint, with a most satisfactory resolution. The others sent generic e-mails saying someone would get back to me. It's now been three weeks, so I'm going to send the letters again.

So far I have been underwhelmed by PlanetFeedback.

I tried it twice and received a "call customer service"
message from the company I wrote to.

So, I guess I just wasted my time.
