I tried searching the board on MBNA and did not find much info. Apparently, Citibank and Amex are The cards for this board.

But i was curious as to what everyone thinks about MBNA and how strict they are and which CRA they pull?

I only have one negative item and i have over 40 positives on EX and my score should be in the 660 range or higher after CE updates my score for deletion of a paid chargeoff today.

    It is 644 now.

What do you think my chances are with them? I have never applied with them before.

    Thanks:)

MBNA is great, they pulled Experian on me,

<New England>, when I called to check on

a bal. transfer, they even offerred to do a

transfer directly in to my checking account, @

a low teaser rate, WITH NO FEES!

I declined the offer, but that's a great feature,

low rate, treated as a purchase, & no fees, I

    couldn't beleive it.

    I have a Platinum Plus.

MBNA issues a Barnes and Noble Platinum Plus card. They seem to be pretty lenient with that card. They pulled Tran Union for my fiance. His credit report was royally screwed up at the time showing his fathers collection accounts, judgement, and charge offs. He was still given the card with a $7500 limit. It appears that an actual human being reviews the applications.

If you search for Barnes and Noble , you should find some message threads about the card.

    Thanks for the input!

About the MBNA Barnes and Noble is it a store card or just cobranded?

    Thanks:)

I found the answer to my question but I also found this on MBNA website.

Before completing this application you should be able to answer "Yes" to the following questions:

Do you have a Total Household Income of $15,000 or greater? (not applicable to students)â?¡ Yes No

Is your credit history clear of bankruptcies or seriously delinquent accounts? Yes No

    Cyprigirl,

What is your negative that you have left? If it's not major, then you should be able to say yes.

I don't remember that question being there when my fiance applied. He didn't get instant approval. A few days later, a rep. called and asked him some questions, and then told him he was approved. He had some real bad stuff on his TU report at the time. We tried this card because there was another person on the board who wrote about his experience getting approved despite bad stuff on his report.

    Hi other,
My only negative is r5 which was paid and dates back to 1996.

I found out they pull EX in Florida.

Its just when I saw that on their website I am a little concern as to whether I should apply.

    What do you think?

I would love the B & N card, because I shop there all the time.

    Thanks,

    Cypri;)

I have a different MBNA card. For me they pulled TU when I opened the account. twice they pulled EX when I applied for a credit limit increase. The last credit limit increase application, they pulled TU again.
Let me get back to my point...I disputed (on EX) the two inquiries, and they were removed. So there might be a chance of getting the inquiry removed if they deny you.

The r5 you have isn't very recent. Is it actually yours, or is it an error? Just curious what it would take to get that off too.

I think you have a good shot (unless they have majorly changed their criteria). My fiance got turned down for BofA (for having a bankruptcy) in October and SFNB (for major delinquency) in April, but MBNA gave him this card in April.

Your score is not bad thanks to the positives that you have. If they don't approve you, you can try to get the inquiry removed. I can't tell you for sure to apply, because I don't want you to hold it against me if the do deny you.

I was just reviewing my finace's reports again.

They pulled both Ex and TU for him.

    Other where do you live?

    Thanks for sharing!

The r5 is accurate and I am disputing some of the lates, so it may just come off.

A friend of mine applied got a 8000 limit and they pulled Experian for him. But he has limited credit and he is a student without a job on top of that!!

TU report is still troublesome. So if they pull TU also I am sure I will not get it.

I think I will mull it over for a little while, wait for my payments from last week to post and maybe my score will get a boost that could strentghen my chances.

I am getting a little tired of this credit stuff. Altough I feel good about where I am now, but there is still soo much to resolve now that I am in phase two of the credit building or rebuilding stage.

Words of advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Cypri:)

    I wish I knew.

I've had my Earthweb MBNA account since April 2000. This was before all the credit scores were released. When I bought my house in October 2000, my middle score was around 640.

My fiance got his B&N MBNA card in April 2001. Again, this was before TU or Experian were offering credit scores. Worthknowing gave him a 5, but they give lots of people 5 including myself. So I wouldn't go by that. He hadn't applied for anything else where they would have given him his score, so I really have no idea. His Ex was clean, but with very little credit history (his oldest account does not report to Ex for some reason - but that's another thread). His TU had at least 1 judgement, at least 2 chargeoffs and at least 2 collection accounts as well as a few accounts that had previously been late. (All of this was his father's - he is a junior).

I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

I was under the impression that a bk was an automatic denial. Due to the first set questions that are asked at the start of the application process.

    Best regards,

    Thanks other!

    I really appreciate the info.

I will apply but I want my TU investigation to wrap up this week, just in case they pull TU.

I will not blame you if I get denied,, :)

Its at least worth the try if they are willing to work with me.

    Thanks again!

    Cypri,
I applied for MBNA about 2 years ago and they pulled from 2 bureaus for that one application (Experian AND Trans Union). I would wait until you see what your TU looks like before applying. I was turned down but I have NO IDEA what my score was at that point or what was on my profiles.
