To all of you who say to never talk to a CA on the phone, today I prove you wrong. I purchased a new car in Dec and found out there was a new item on my credit report. Some old bill that had been reaged, never placed on my report before and appearing as new. Spoke to them 12/21 - Pay us, we'll delete it. I didn't feel right about it. Spoke with them 1/30 - Badgered him into submission. He kept placing me on hold trying to pass me off to his supervisor. I refused to talk to anyone else but him. He wanted to collect and tried to tell me that the big 3 verified the accounts so they must be valid. We went back and forth for about 10 minutes before he gave in and agreed that they validated the debts with the CRA. He tried to tell me all kinds of BS about CRA's reporting debts and that the CA's have no control. I laughed and laughed some more. Needless to say, he had eight days before my one and only estoppel letter was up. I told him I had him on at least 5 violations of the FCRA. After a bit of arguing, my fax machine began to go off. Sure enough it was a letter of intention to delete from them. Looks like the small guy won this round, now I get to go shove it in the big 3's (err 4!) faces about how they told me they validated the debt and it was correct. I disputed it until I was blue in the face. I love badgering people who are here to make my life miserable. Makes me feel good to know that when you turn the tables on them, they buckle (sometimes). (Okay I'm in the middle of work, so this might be confusing).
