I have a BK Chpt. 7 that is only four years old. What are my chances of disputing this item and getting it removed? Can Public Record items be challenged?

Yes, any public record can be challenged, but the chances of getting a legit BK removed is tough.

Mine is 5 years old. I disputed it first with experian as not mine - they actually took it off. I am now disputing it with the other two - will let you know what happens. I couldn't believe they took it off, I keep waiting for it to show back up! Must have been an error somewhere.

I don't think the public record is any tougher than anything else. I have a CH13 filed 1/01. It is now gone off of my DH's TU and EQF and my EXP and EQF. It is just a matter of time before it comes off of the other two. Just keep trying! In fact it came off of DH's TU report on the 7th dispute! If it comes back, the chances of them notifying you within 5 days is slim. So you could get it removed if they did. I haven't had one come back yet.

Great progess Lisa! How often did you dispute and did you use a different reason each time?

Breanna, I varied the reason but not by some grand design. I always used some form of "I never filed a bk on 1/03 w/ 0 assets etc etc." I know one time I disputed it as "I never filed an individual bk." That is true. Ours was joint. The reason why I had disputed it so many times on TU was because it was the only derog left!
