What can I expect at status call

Served with papers about 1 1/2 years ago from collection atty. Never heard from this agency prior to the lawsuit and immediately requested validation, which they ignored. Filed the necessary notice of appearance and answer. All stopped there. Never heard anything again. Periodically checked with court and no new motions, etc. had been filed by collection agency. I have received a notice for a "status call" on July 1. Of course, I will show up but am wondering what I can expect at that "status call". The clerk of court told me when I called that nothing new has been added since my filings were clocked in, but the Judge wants all old cases of his calendar. I'm sure an atty will show up, but do we go before the judge that day or just respond as to whether we are ready, etc???? Anyone know what I can expect? Thank you.

You need to check your state and local court rules. Given that, a status call is probably basically both sides telling the court the status of the case. Quite possibly, the court will simply set a trial date.
