I had a paid charge off, that was paid off in 1997. I disputed it as "never late". I had previously called the bank, and they couldn't find my records, so I figured I'd give the "never late" angle a chance; that way, I'd have an older account on my file that was reported positive. I just got the report back now, and the report says "reviewed". I look at the status, and now the status says "Paid" (I was expecting, "paid/never late"). It also says "This account is scheduled to continue on record until 3-2009. It appears it has been reaged 7 years. Is this good or bad? Should I just go for a full deletion? By the way, I had another account (paid and closed) on there in which I successfully got the late pays removed, and now that is showing up as "paid/never late" as opposed to simply "paid". Not sure what the difference is...
Dispute as "incorrect"/"never late" again. If they update the paid to paid/never late, then you have a good positive listing until '09...if they delete, you will have removed an old account, but a derog, so your score may drop temporarily but it will bounce back. -Peace, Dave
As far as reaging goes, remember positive accounts stay on your report for 10 years from DOLA. Negative accounts are 7. So it appears your new DOLA was sometime in 3/99, rather than 1997. Does it now show in the positive accounts section, instead of potentially negative section? I ask because a "paid" notation does not seem to be as positive as a paid/never late. However, since the drop off date has now "extended" itself, it would seem that it is in fact a positive account. Not sure how this would affect your score. Has your score gone up since the change?
I had the same thing happen to my account. It just says paid. My score went up 40 points because of it so you are just fine. I would not mess with it because it is now a positive thing.
Well then, if it is in the positive account listing section, leave well enough alone because you now have a positive account that will be on your report till '09 ) -Peace, Dave
