When looking at my current credit reports and credit scores, how would I answer these questions considering my report is recently all clean with all previous negative trend lines deleted? I had a few accounts in collection / charegoff as of 1/2004 that I showed were not mine and have since been removed. My reports (all 3) all all clean with no negatives as of today. Can a potential credit issuer, see anything in my file that I do not see TODAY?

My SCORES were all around 650-670 as of 1/2004 and are now all above 725.

    1. Please indicate if you have ever gone through any of the following negative financial events in the last 10 years: bankruptcy, tax lien, foreclosure, repossession, or account referred to collection agency.

    2. When did you last miss a loan or credit card payment?

My main concern is whether what I am buying from the CRA in terms of credit report content is the same information the CRA's give to creditors who pull a hard report on me.

As a CREDITOR I can assure you that what you get from the big 3 CRA is not what I get. Go ahead, clean up those negative trend lines with chargeoffs and CA items. When you apply with me for credit with what YOU think are clean reports, you will be sadly surprised what I know about what you recently did.......... Oh, and if you got yourself a FICO score after the cleanup and it went up to Good-Excel rating, again, I will give you another sad surprise.

So are you saying even if we have items deleted and put in dispute, you can still access the information? If so then it is really a crap shoot when looking at scores, eh?

How is that legal for them to do that? Aren't we supposed to be able to see what's "really" on our report?

You get a CURRENT snapshot look at your file. I can get a report as of any date back 3 years.

that is 100% incorrect. We CANNOT see any tradelines or information that were deleted. yes scores may be somewhat different, but not THAT much.

if you are referring to a full factual report we can go back 10 years but the only additional items we would see are the ones that fell off after the 7 year SOL - not if they were deleted due to dispute. once they are removed via dispute, they are off unless the creditor can prove otherwise - but that is a whole different thread topic. AND since it costs more for a full factual - most lenders don't use them - just the straight regular report that you see.

jenz, yo uare so uninformed. I just ran a report on someone looking to buy some merchandise with us and I am looking at a 3 year old report, 2 year, 1 year and a report dated 5/7. I see 3 chargeoffs on the 3 year old report and 2 are gone on the 5/8 report. You don't think I know how the chargeoff got removed? The guy worked his file. Still, he had the chargeoff in the first place so his credit request is going to be denied based on the combined SNAPSHOT from 3 years ag vs the 5/8 report. I don't care how he got the chargeoff removed. It obvious he had credit problems. He no doubt paid someone to get it off.

So what you're saying is that when they delete, they don't really delete? How do you know how he got those removed? Isn't it just possible that they really weren't valid collections?

If that's the case, I think it's a bunch of bs. If you have valid mistakes on your CR, which a lot of them are, you are held responsible for that?

    I smell a troll .
I think the guy is about to post a "owned" pic anytime .
I see alot of people on here who cleaned thier files up and now are in the 750 and up range .
I seriously doubt I need any credit that someone is willing to look into my fathers testicles to see how my payment history is since before I was born .
Im a simple person with simple needs .
If you bend people over , being that you know how CA use mafia tactics to collect money that may not even be owed .... your sick .
I can only hope someone packs your file with incorrect garbage and then some simpleton like you puts it in you .

kimm.. what I said was your CURRENT file is only a snapshot. Sure, you can work your file and clean up all your negative trend lines. AND going forward, I won't see those items. But if I can pull a report as of a date in the past, before the items were cleaned, I will see the otems because as of that past date, they were not yet deleted. Like I said, I pulled a 3 year old report last week on a guy and compared it to a current report. Items that were in chargeoff 3 years ago had been removed on the current report. So, like I said, it does not matter what TODAYS report reads.

you can not "back-date" a report. that is impossible unless you work for a CRA.

no i am not uninformed - i worked for a large financial services company and do this for a living.

whos to say that the "backdated" report you supposedly pull is even accurate? did you ever think the CRA's might actually report inaccurate information?

Exactly, Jenz -- that was my question. How on earth can you pull a file from 3 years ago? If you can, there is really a lot more wrong than we all think.

    I smell a troll, too.

Go to the top of this thread. The first message is from ctshorse, at IP address 68.84.231.202. Now, look at the next message, a "reply" from bpermer. Check out bpermer's IP address. It's THE SAME AS ctshorse's IP address: 68.84.231.202.

ctshorse/bpermer, EXPLAIN YOURSELF. I know you're in PA, and you use comcast.net as your ISP. Do you think we're STUPID??? What's going on here???

Hey there tr1252. There are probaly 100+ people using our INET connection at any given time. Since we go through the same router, its no wonder you see same IP from me as the ctshorse dude. I don't know ctshorse but I will seek him out. Nice try.

So, bpermer, when you pull a back dated report, as you claim, and you deny someone credit, and you provide them the federally required adverse action notice, do you inform them in this notice of the dates of the reports you based your denial on?

Sorry, I don't buy it! What are the chances of the first poster having the EXACT SAME IP address as you, on the EXACT SAME message board? It does NOT add up! Add to that the info you're giving, which runs TOTALLY COUNTER to just about EVERYTHING we know about credit reporting!

I'm sure we'll hear from some of the CN veterans about this one! Back-dated credit repoprts? What next?

Re: Re: What do creditors really see on rep

i think that is the key thing...if you deny someone due to poor credit, they are entitled to a free copy of their credit report. which means since you are supposedly pulling an old one, and the customer would get a current one, you would have to provide them with a copy of yours - which is inaccurate. and i'm certain if you told your customers what you were supposedly doing you would get hit with a slew of lawsuits.

Actually, the CRAs would be in the stickiest position. If they have investigated and "removed" an erroneous entry, based on checking with the original reporter, yet they continue to "publish" the trade entry that they know is in error, providing it in reports to other users, regardless of what date they say it is as of, they are knowingly providing inaccurate information. Slam-dunk. I doubt they are that stupid.

    hmmm,

what a mess all this mumbo jumbo.

just want to give another opinion here

    1. I do not know of ANY potential creditor being allowed or having a way to pull a report other than a CURRENT report.

if they do or can somehow, I would say they are a shady company and did us a favor by denying credit.

    2. I can see a creditor pulling a current report and then wait a few months into the future and pull another report to see if anything has changed this is possible and then compare the 2.

    3. about the IP address, nice try IP are assigned to each user individually a few # in that address may be similar due to the subscriber but NOT all of them.

and IP address can be changed very easily but location can not , they are assigned by location and other id info, so I say to you fess up admit you are wrong, clear your name and please post something usefull to help others not confuse them or tear their hopes down because you have a different view or opinion.

as far as CR go all I know is when a creditor pulls a CR they get what is current even if its under investigation, not old stuff.

hope that helps clear some questions.
