I was told that I was approved for the CitiBank Aadvantage gold card with a $5K limit. I told the rep I'd rather have the Plat. Select card, so she suggested I do a product transfer. Well, if you believe this, the rep said she didn't show the gold account under my social. I called the (301) number again and gave the reference number, and she said it was declined; a letter was sent out yesterday. What can I do? I have the rep's name, the time I called, and everything.
Now this is interesting... How did your originally find out that you were approved? Was it instant or did you call? They couldn't find ANY account under your social? Maybe you accidently submitted 2 applications (by hitting back) and they were referring to the second application? I'm just trying to justify this any way I can.
OK, here's exactly what happened. I applied Thursday, 10/12 for the regular silver Aadvantage Mastercard - received instant approval online for the card. Excited and wanting to cancel my NextCard for all of the lies they've told me, I applied for the Platinum Select card. They didn't even pull a report for this one, so I got a screen that said, "We will contact you in 7-10 days at the address listed on your application." I went ahead and applied for the Gold Aadvantage MasterCard after that (all on 10/12), and received the same message. They pulled one report (TU) on 10/12 of course, and another on 10/15. I called at 8 AM 10/16 (Monday) to find out the status of the other two applications. She gave me reference numbers for all three, and said: "Silver aadvantage - approved." "Gold Aadvantage - approved (said for a 5K limit)." Platinum Select - declined (max. of 2 apps in 60 days). Now I called back today to find out about product transferring my Gold Aadvantage account, and the rep said that a letter was sent out yesterday, and I was declined. I feel sick, now. What do you guys think? First, the app that SHOULD have been declined was the gold Aadvantage because that was my 3rd app in 60 days. I have the rep's name and everything that gave me all three reference numbers and approvals/denials.
Not trying to criticize you or anything but don't you think submitting THREE applications was a bit TOO MUCH? What were you going to do with THREE Citibank cards? You know what's probably happening? You probably triggered Citibanks fraud unit or something and they are probably trying to investigate to make sure that YOU did all of this, not someone else! At this point, you should just wait and see what happens and stop calling. I think the more you call, the more things get confused. Once the dust has cleared and you have card(s) in your hand, then concentrate on doing a product transfer. If you received on line approval for the silver, did you get an account number instantly? Gee, I guess I'm the only one brave enough to try and answer your questions! Everyone else must be tired!
I had no intentions on keeping three cards. I was/will consolidate any approved accounts into one plat. select account.
You have nothing to worry abou I bet you the denial letter is to the 3rd application. You can not submit 3 applications in 60 days. That is all that is. YOu will get two cards. But no more applications ok....lol
You will probably get the 2 cards, but this is a possible scenario. They seen the three apps, and figured you were trying to get all the credit you could, maybe you needed quick cash, were gonna do the BK thing, or whatever the reason so they decided to decline all three. They hold a lot of inquiries against you, so I don't know why they couldn't count the three apps against you. P.S. I don't think that this is the case, but it is a possibility
