I have 2 accounts showing up on my credit report that are not mine- they are being reported by rjm acquisisions, and are for 2 book clubs that i did not join. I pulled my free credit report last week on friday, and filed disputes with all 3 for these accounts. Experien emailed me this morning thatthey have been verified, and will stay on my report. So, what is my next step ?

    Jll,

Welcome and good luck with your disputes. You can attempt to redispute the accounts with the credit bureau. I would however try to dispute them on different grounds so the bureaus do not send you out a frivious letter. You can also have them include a statement that can be inserted into your credit file of usually around 300 words or less explaining your situation. Persistence is the key, otherwise you can look for help in other places. This board will offer you some guidance but just hang in there. Where these your accounts originally?

These were not my accounts originally- I did not sign up for these book clubs, nor did I join them. I disputed them through the 3 CRA,last week on Friday, and then Exp came back that they were verified... For what it is worth they are small amounts- one is for $96 and one is for $76.... I am tempted to just write a letter to both the CA an the OC and tell them these are not mine, i have no intention of paying them, and that if they do not remove them from my CR then I will sue them. Should i do that, or take the slower route, and do validation,etc.. ...I have ignored the collection notices on these for years, lol...probably not the best move to have made, but they are not mine.

Strange since they shouldnt have your SSN if you didnt sign anything with it. When they verify you account they have to verify SSN and at least your name with the collection company. I would continute to dispute the item. Let me know if you need any further assistance. Please note that most newer scoring models will not take into account collections for that small amount so at least you have that going for you too!! Good luck!

Consult a consumer attorney in your state if you've suffered damages.

What is up with everyone disputing with the CRA's first? Man how I long for the days of the old guard on this board..lol :) You should always (well not always, there are exceptions like OC's and how old the TL is etc) start by sending a val letter to who ever is reporting the info (the CA,) then you dispute about 5-7 days after you get your RRR back with the CRA's. Timing is everything in this process, TL timing, SOL timing, Dispute timing. Don't mess with the timing. As far as your personal situation; Once you send them (the CA\book club) a VAL letter stay on them (follow up with another VAL letter after their time runs out)and make them give you the original contract that you signed. These book clubs also have you send in your first order via mail or online so they should have the info you request. If they don't you let them know you will file an FTC and BBB (if they are a member) complaint and sue their behinds if they don't remove. This is one of those situation where you can get paid well bc these are not yours.
