What does verified mean?

    I disputed a chargeoff with exp. then i got the paper saying verified.

    Now i see its no longer on my credit report.

    Look carefully. Go to the EX website, to the consumer section and choose the "dispute online" option. Enter an old report number, etc... If its still there, it will come up under the derogatory account section. If not, congratulations!

    Half the battle is getting them to start an investigation or a re-investigation. They will sometimes "verify" an account, yet still delete it from your report. Why? Who knows, but it great when it happens.

    I just disputed a closed Discover with late pays as "not mine" with EQ. They "verified" that the account was mine, yet still deleted all the late pays. I guess someone at EQ was feeling extra kind that day?
