O.k. so I can get a feel of what's going on...what exactly do people consider AAA credit? Is there such a thing? I'm curious as to know what the criteria is. Is it based solely on your credit score? The accounts that you hold? Are people with say 1 visa w/ a $5k limit, 2 dept. store, and an auto loan all in perfect standing for years considered having AAA credit? Does having 1 30 day late take you out of the catagory of AAA credit? I'm just trying to understand. I remember a while back like in '95 or so, I was under the impression that if you had an Am/Ex Gold, you were considered to be the bomb! (i.e. had excellent credit). At the time I had been working retail at Macy's and for the whole time I was there (2 years total), I saw 2 people with Am/Ex Platinum cards! I thought they only gave those to stars and wealthy people. Kinda broke my heart to see my boss (who is an engineering program manager) pull out is Am/Ex Platinum cash back card the other day! So is the Am/Ex Black card now what the Platinum use to be (in regards to status)? What does Donald Trump carry? That Quantum card? I'm getting the impression that Am/Ex has lowered their standards for each card to make room (perhaps) for the Black card? I'm just guessing......how else could my boyfriend have obtained an Am/Ex Gold card (he did not start out with green....was put straignt into gold)? Nowadays, it seems like everyone and their grandma (except for me of course) has the green card. Then the people with good credit have the Gold. Then there's the people with excellent credit (AAA perhaps?) who carry Platinum. Then there's the Bill Gates and Donald Trumps who carry (I assume?) Black? Quantum? WHAT? Wouldn't that be a trip if Bill Gates was at a restaurant and pulled out the Providian Visa Gold? (that was my attempt at humor) So I guess the bottom line is: WHAT IS AAA CREDIT REALLY????
RE: What EXACTLY is AAA Credi not the Cross Country Bank Gold Mastercard remeber- they were the ones who burned the payments from customers in the Lake of Fire?
RE: What EXACTLY is AAA Credi Every time I hear people refer to them as: "CROOKS COUNTRY BANK". I still fall down and laugh! :-D
RE: What EXACTLY is AAA Credi I think I know what is AAA Credit!!! Thats when you only have a $100.00 Macy's card on your credit file and six months later get a $6000.00 Discover Platinum Card.
Good Response Well said, Mick. If you keep on thinking about that one, you're bound to find out the truth sooner or later.
The Real Story The real story is this: AAA is the highest category used by Standard & Poor's in evaluating CORPORATE credit. Moody's has a similar category, I believe Aaa. The term has become a metaphor for excellent credit of any type. I think the best way to apply the term "AAA Credit" to individuals would be to look not only for a spotless credit record, but also a very high credit score. Since ratios are very important for corporations, we should consider them for superprime, "AAA" individuals as well. Such measures as income, debt to income ratio, debt to limit ratio, and payment to income ratio, could define what constitutes a truly "AAA" individual. I'm sure Bill Gates would do well by all those measures, and many others as well.
RE: Funny? Mick, I see you're at it again. Her credit is not even an "A", because when she applied for the Discover card, she also applied for a few other department stores and she was decline for lack of credit history and balance to credit limit ratio. With a $100 dollor limit at Macy's, what the hell do they think your balance to limit ratio should be? Well anyway, i see that you are still struggling with 100-6000 thing. Take my advice that I gave before, and call Discover and ask them what the hell is going on with that, and please be sure to let me know, because maybe we can try to get us some cards out of them. mick wrote: ------------------------------- I think I know what is AAA Credit!!!
