I remember a while back like in '95 or so, I was under the impression that if you had an Am/Ex Gold, you were considered to be the bomb! (i.e. had excellent credit). At the time I had been working retail at Macy's and for the whole time I was there (2 years total), I saw 2 people with Am/Ex Platinum cards! I thought they only gave those to stars and wealthy people. Kinda broke my heart to see my boss (who is an engineering program manager) pull out is Am/Ex Platinum cash back card the other day! So is the Am/Ex Black card now what the Platinum use to be (in regards to status)? What does Donald Trump carry? That Quantum card? I'm getting the impression that Am/Ex has lowered their standards for each card to make room (perhaps) for the Black card? I'm just guessing......how else could my boyfriend have obtained an Am/Ex Gold card (he did not start out with green....was put straignt into gold)? Nowadays, it seems like everyone and their grandma (except for me of course) has the green card. Then the people with good credit have the Gold. Then there's the people with excellent credit (AAA perhaps?) who carry Platinum. Then there's the Bill Gates and Donald Trumps who carry (I assume?) Black? Quantum? WHAT? Wouldn't that be a trip if Bill Gates was at a restaurant and pulled out the Providian Visa Gold? (that was my attempt at humor) So I guess the bottom line is: WHAT IS AAA CREDIT REALLY????
