Can you play off one spouse to another to try and rid yourselves of a pesky collections account? Or just go the straight validation route? dh and I have a joint account that went to collections and is just sitting there. No further activity, other than a few letters, last one probably over a year ago.... I would really like to lose this account forever.... Any advice? -Jade
I personally never dealt with joint account issues, but the route I'd most likely take would be to validate this account under the primary holders name, and once it's solved and removed from his or hers report, you shouldn't have any problems getting it removed from spouses report by simply disputing it, since you should have the documents in hand if needed to have it removed.
