I have several student loans that are reported as being late, and they are hurting my credit score. I spoke with the loan company and they said that I need to accquire a Consumer Dispute Form from the CRA that have this listed. Well I called and you can not speak with anyone, where do I get this form, or can I just write my own? Sorry this is long
A consumer dispute form is a sheet of paper included with your full credit report when you order it from any of the CRA's. It's basically a form that says: Company name_________ / Acc #__________ / Reason for investigation_________ ...etc, you don't need it, you can write up a letter yourself which will basically outline what info. you're disputing, the co. name, any account number(s), why you believe the adverse information is incorrect, and anything else you may want to add. If you were truly not late, the loan company shouldn't make you have to dispute through the CRA(s). If you truly were not late, this sounds like a stall tactic on the loan companies part. If you have proof you weren't late when they claim you were, submit proof along with your dispute form/letter, and be sure to send it CRRR.
