I've seen it mentioned a few times. I've looked throught the FAQs and the sample letters but didn't see anything about it. I sent a validation letter to a local CA 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back yet. It appears that they purchased the debt and then assigned it to a fairly local attorney collector. I would have thought that if they purchased it, were local and able to validate, I would have heard something by now. If I don't hear anything within the next 2 weeks, I assume I should send them the estoppel letter? Is it different than a C&D letter, or is it just another name for it? If it's different, is there a sample letter for it somewhere that I could look at? Thanks
It is in the letters section "validation 60 days" If thats not the right one go trhough the the "validation" letters, it will say in the beginning of the letter "estoppel by silence". I don't know how to copy and paste, so I hope you find it ok!
Okay thanks! I found it. As threatening as the letter is, this won't set them off and start more problems for me if I send this after the 30 days will it? I'd hate to make them angry enough to sue just because of the letter, especially if they were just going to leave me alone after the validation letter. Can I edit it to make it sound firm but not as threatening, or is it best to leave it the way it is?
