It's short for back door double. I think it involves getting multiple cards and combining to get higher limits.

Many people were having trouble getting a Citi card. Others, who had a Citi card, were having trouble getting credit line increases.

Someone found out that if you applied for the Citi Silver and then immediately applied for the Citi gold, there was a high chance of being approved for both. Then, you could convert those two cards into a Citi platinum (which is a pretty good card). Or, if you already had a Citi card, you could combine the new cards with the old one to increase your credit limit. For quite a while, it was very successful. Almost everyone got approved for the cards. Then, it stopped working for most (I think it stopped working the day I applied).

Because you got two cards through the "back door", it was named the BDD.

Sam was the main guy on this - look at his old posts.

I don't know haw successful it is now.

I couldn't get in the front door!!!

    DENIED like 10 + times...

    "PRE-APPROVED"
    "PRE-SELECTED"
    "HAND-SELECTED"
    Just applied on the phone
    Just applied on-line
    Just applied by mail

HERE COMES MY "BACK DOOR DOUBLE" (BDD)

    AASILVER $5,000 + AAGOLD $5,000 = PLATINUM SELECT $10,000
TWO APPLICATIONS ON-LINE...ONE INQUIRY...MUST BE BACK TO BACK (LIKE 10 MIN. APART)

Combined both into one and traded for PLATINUM SELECT

I got in the BACK DOOR!!!!

heh i just tried it again.

My last try was denied "You have reached the maximum credit limit for your income".

My citi platinum select limit is $25,000 right now.

The 25k cap has been known previously.

I still have yet to see a SINGLE person actually try it and end up with results that indicate the BDD doesn't work....which would be accepted silver, denied for too many applications gold. There was one guy who claimed this and ended up getting the gold in the mail weeks later. And others who don't qualify for either (prior c/o or whatever). I haven't seen any convincing evidence BDD died.

I got denied for both about four months ago. I had a Citi Platinum with $15,000 CL, perfect payment history, and a 670 FICO score when they turned me down for both.

I think the reason was too much in cash advances on the existing Citi card.

Just before then, they turned me down on a CL increase on my existing account.

About three months ago, they cut my interest rate to less than half of what it was. Then, about two weeks ago, they gave me a $7500 CL increase without me even asking on my existing Citi card. Still will not give me a BT rate, or even let me do BT's.

I have been unable to figure them out. I don't know if they love me or hate me.

Even though they make "TONS" of money on CASH ADVANCES...they are usually frowned upon...
