Creditnet Holiday Onslaught of Disputes C.H.O.D. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&pgnum=1&postid=249120#post249120 Mail gets "slow", workers go on vacation, and people get "festive" during the Thanksgiving-Christmas period. Which also includes Hanukah and Kwanzaa as well (although I think Hanukah is early this year). The theory is we get in as many disputes as possible during that time frame to "inundate" the CRA's and furnishers of info with the responsibility of dispute verification. -Peace, Dave
CHOD means CreditNet Holiday Onslaught of Disputes. In other words, on or around November 25th, credit disputes you send to the credit bureaus will arrive at a time when there are a large number of people taking time off for the holidays. Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day. The disputes pile up in huge numbers and it is difficult for them to process everything in a timely manner. The creditors, collection agencies, etc. are flooded at a time when they have the least amount of time and staff to handle everything. There are also tens of thousands of people applying for instant credit offers during the holidays and the credit bureaus are overwhelmed with processing credit report requests. It is easier to get items off your report than any other time of the years. Be sure to send each of your disputes separately. Don't lump in five dispute in a single letter.
