They are making it so hard to dispute lately. Does anyone have the new website address for online disputes without a username and password? They keep giving me a page that says they cannot start my online dispute, it says I can either dispute by phone or mail and I want to do it online.
Its value depends on the quality of their response to your dispute, and on what you may have to do should they improperly handle an online dispute.
Keep in mind your goal. If your goal is to get an erroneous item off your reports, and the options in an on-line dispute limit your ability to clearly indicate the problem, or fail to provide a way to send documentation of the error, and therefore affect the likelyhood that the dispute will effectively result in the removal of the erroneous information, then what good is it to fail to obtain a correction, but at on-line speed? Similarly, if it is likely that you might have to proceed either with regulatory complaints against the CRA or DF, or actually sue, what advantage is there to achieving a rejected on-line dispute, when what you would want is either a successful dispute and removal, or a rejection of a clearly written mailed dispute, sent CRRR for proof of receipt, for later use in litigation? On-line disputes, for all their simplicity, and cost savings to the CRA, may fail to accomplish your goal.
really I was just looking for the solution to my problem not some long winded, excuse for them to make disputing things on my credit report difficult. Anyone out there have the new website? Experian did this about 6-12 months ago and they just up and changed the address.
I just googled it. http://www.transunion.com/corporate/personal/creditDisputes.page What ONTrack so kindly relayed to you is that it is preferable to send in a written mail dispute. The online disputes usually do not have enough space to clearly describe your situation. I find this to be absolutely true as well. I have used both online and mail as well as FAX and phone disputes. The most effective have been the certified mail return receipt disputes. When I received a release from a company I sent it via FAX to Experian and that was also a fast response and resolve. That was after speaking them on the phone. So if you find your dispute is going nowhere... Good luck.
Agreed. Ontrack was just saving you time in the long run. After all, do you want to save mail turn around time or get the dispute resolved the first time, so you don't wait at LEAST THIRTY DAYS and get a "VERIFIED" answer. Really, would ontrack tell you how best to get information REMOVED from your file if he worked for Trans Union? NOT! Worth repeating, if you find your dispute is going nowhere..........
Online dispute methods are worthless. CMRRR is the only way, well, nearly the only way to get a piece of correspondence admitted into evidence. Unfortunately, the dispute process often leads to litigation which sometimes requires the rules of evidence to come into issue.
The solution to your problem is......DON'T BE SO LAZY! Can't find a website?....Ask someone to do it for you. Too much trouble to go to the post office?....Pay a lawyer $150 an hour to do it for you. Don't want to read TWO paragraphs of intelligent FREE advice?....Insult OnTrack and never get another meaningful response from this site.
Really this board needs to get a sense of humor again. I remember the "Experian killed my dog" days. The employee remark was simply a joke. Obviously I know he does NOT work for TU....Understand that online disputes are not useless, they have worked tremendously for me (started w/15 neg now down to 2 ALL BY ONLINE DISP) and alot of people I have helped. I am not lazy......... I am a single mother I work 1 fulltime job and 1 part time and in the meantime I help many single battered mothers obtain good credit so that they can feel the joy of being homeowners but most women in this situation are not blessed with all the time or $ you speak of. We do not have the time to pour hours of letters into credit repair. Just for the record this board has been a life saver and me and my 7 year old son appreciate all the help so much becasue now within the last 6 months I OWN my home.....no more renting thank god. Please do not misinterpret a little frustration or sarcastic tone as being ungrateful. Let this stand a personal apology if ontrack took that wrong. But I happen to be very straight forward and I myself have helped MANY people with very straight forward answers to their questions. I have found more than once people might get put off by my bluntness but they really appreciate it when they do not have to read thru posts like these to find the secret code to credit repair. Layman terms EVERYONE likes.
