I think this is probably the most proper way to attack the problem. An advantage is that it sort of puts one to verifying the other and that sometimes gets them off their duffs. I don't think you should give the creditor much if any information at all. Just a proper demand to validate, not verify. To the creditor you should not include a copy of the credit bureu report. You need to get real huffy with them because you are in a bluff situation in the first place and it's actually the charge off you have to fight first. Count on the fact that they will come back with a demand for more information(naturally if you didn't give them much of anything to go on in the first place) to which the reply should be, "You had all the information you needed at your fingertips when you put the report on me in the first place so it's your job to get it off the best way you can or be ready to suffer the legal consequences. Addittionally, if you pull a copy of my credit report at any time, I will sue you for that also as inquiries also damage my credit ratings. Also please be advised that in the event you contact any third pary or reply to the contact of any third party for any reason whatsoever that does not consist or actual correction of the problem at hand until this matter is satisfied, you will also be in additional violation of Federal Law. You put the inaccurate reports on my file and you get it off or I will turn this matter over to my attorney with demand for immediate legal action against you. You have15 days from the receipt of this letter to cure and provide proof to me that you have complied or I will refer the matter to my attorney without further ado. And let it go at that. Now then, I want you to understand that the above is all hype, bluster and pure BS. Nothing more, nothing less and it has no basis in law for any of it. You have got one foot in the grave and the other on a banna peel when you send such a letter in these circumstances and the best you can hope for is that they fall for it. If they fall for it, great! and if they don't, OH WELL They can't shoot you for being ignorant.(LOL) The credit bureau is a totally different story since they don't have to prove the debt. They only have to verify and so getting huffy and puffy with them isn't going to do a lick of good. Just ask them to verify it, saying that you have an ongoing dispute with the creditor and doing that will put them on notice that they must do an actual and honest to God verification, not just call them up and ask them if it's right. They are then going to have to do a full investigation and if they don't get it done on time and done right, then will be the time to get huffy with them. Best of luck
