First, a little background... My CRs shows a 30 day late on my Providian cc. I disputed it with the CRAs a little over a month ago and it came back as verified. Anyway, I decided to the validation route and faxed Providian a letter on 7/10/02. This morning, I received a phone call from one of their reps asking me to send them a copy of my CRs showing the late notation. He said that they wanted to see how it is reported on my CRs. I still have an open acct w/ these guys, so I would assume that they can pull my file whenever they want. Therefore, why should I do this for them. But they did respond to my letter (and not in a negative way as of yet), and I may be willing to send them this information if it will help me in getting this item removed (not my full report, of course). Any suggestions?????
Actually, they are doing the right thing in asking you first so they don't place a hard inquiry on your report. kudos to them for actually obeying the law. I would just send them that tradeline, You don't need to send all the other information. Like your other accounts or derogs. Just that particular one. Hope you get it straightened out.
Make sure the blacked out information can't still be read. Some times it can be because the original print will shine through or you can read it if you hold it up to the light. To solve that: Print a copy of the original and do your marking on the copy with white out. After the whiteout dries cover it with a black marker. You can also do this on the back of the sheet to be doubly sure the censored info can't be read. Don't send them this sheet, Instead make a copy of it and send that instead. LB
