This is my situation. I had an account with Providian Financial - opened Jun, 1999 (you know the story...account gone bad...bla, bla, bla, fees, fees, fees, interest, interest, interest... account went from $540.00 to $1,832... long story short, I paid the account in full, I was successful in having it deleted from Equifax, but Experian & TransUnion still show this as - (Canceled by credit grantor) Payment after charge off/collection. My question is since this account is paid off... is there a way to remove it from my reports? if so what letter should I use????

I've tried sending validation letters to Providian, but they never respond. You might send them as well, just to document your case. Try sending them a Nutcase letter, followed by an estoppel 30 days later.

Then send that to Exp and DU and demand they remove it under 611 (a) (5) as unverifiable.

My guess is TU will delete, but you'll have to sue EXP.

Yes, not mine is the usual dispute, unless you want to keep the TL.

If Providian never responds to validation letters, won't the accounts be deleted by the CRA's for failure to validate? Providing you also notified the CRA's you wanted validation? Isn't the paper trail enough for the CRA's without going to court with Providian?
