What Now???

I have an old (about 10 years) Discover account that is reporting numerous lates. It went over limit and late and closed by credit grantor several years ago. I figure I'll have to live with it but want to get the lates off.

I have disputed several times and always comes back verified. Here's the latest weird CSC thing:

On 2/18 for absolutely NO reason this account shows up "CONSUMER DISPUTES THIS INFORMATION"

WELL - NO, NO, NO - I DID NO SUCH THING.

From 1/1/03 up until 4/14/03 it was reporting

    CLOSED BY CREDIT GRANTOR
    30 days 03 times
    60 days 07 times
    90+ days 04 times
    CONSUMER DISPUTES THIS INFORMATION
This is what was showing prior to ever having disputed it. It has NOT been disputed this year at all. All the disputes involving this account were in 2002. As I said - always verified.

    Today 5/1/03 it reads

    30 days 03 times
    60 days 09 times
    90 days 03 times

    CONSUMER DISPUTES THIS ACCOUNT INFORMATION

OK, I have two questions here and want to know do I have any recourse with them on either issue and I'd love to get this whole account deleted if I can't just get the lates deleted. I have paid on time for a long time now (12+ mos).

Question 1 - How in the heck from 4/14 until 5/1 did I lose one 90 day late and gain 2 60 day lates?? I guess I understand one of the lates rolling off but how did I get 2 new 60 day lates in 2 weeks?????

Question 2 - I never put the account in dispute (this year) but let it go when they did, hoping it would just go away thanks to them. No such luck. They have had this account in dispute for 2 1/2 months. How can I use that info to get them to delete???

Thanks for any help here. I hate CSC and I don't see how they can keep changing things whenever the mood strikes them. Even after I get my reports cleaned up (only 3 derogs left and this is one of them), I will not be able to function without continually checking my reports (at least weekly) due to their tactics. If I did my job as poorly as these people I'd be in the unemployment line!!

Must be a Discover glitch- my DH has the same thing listing on his CR

I haven't gotten around to them yet so I know I did not initiate the comment.

CSC/Equifax is the only one reporting Discover that way so it makes me think it's them, but I don't know. Maybe it has to do with the automatic updates Discover sends and the way CSC/Equifax uses that info.

I just know that it can't be accurate. One of them may be accurate but obviously it can't be accurate if it's changing every 2 weeks.

Doesn't the law say they are liable for accurate reporting??? Also, how can I get them not only to get it out of dispute but delete? Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch and good luck on yours!

Unfortunately it's one of the worst accounts I have left. Went over limit in 2000 and just got worse from there. Over limit fees, blah blah.

Trying to get qualified for a good card to BT it to and get it back under control. I am making payments on time and have for at least a year now. Just not making any headway on the balance, between the 20% and the over limits. Owe about $3k on it.
