I just applied for Macy's card online and got the 10 days message. I think they are going to decline. What a bummer, another inq. I thought Macy's $100 line was easy to get... TU 589. 2 bad marks 1 good mark Out of the two bad, one is paid charge off and another is paid credit account closed by grantor. Which cards should I apply for? I am new to this board, so if you know there are existing relevant threads, please send me the links. Thanks.
I think you should phrase your question as... Which retail cards are easy to obtain with... XXX points (credit score)... or a late payment (or several)... or a BK or Charge Off... I don't think getting credit (any type) is easier or harder based on your state of residence... However, you may have creditors pulling varying CRAs (or combos) based on your state...Check this out also... http://www.millcbs.com/search.asp
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? Thanks Ted! I checked out your link. It is pretty cool. Here are my details... 1. Car loan: This one is charge-off. I paid it full in cash as soon as it got to the charge off status. Now it shows as follows: TransUnion - "Paid Charge Off" Status as of 2/2001 - Most owed ~5K Experian - "Paid/Account charged off as of 3/2001" 30 days, 60 days, 90 days all once 12/2000 through 2/2001. Will continue to be reported until 12-2007 Equifax - "Paid charge off" Balance $0 Date reported 6/2001 2. Credit Card1: This account was late for payments. Account was closed by the bank. They continued to charge interest and I continued to pay in bits and pieces and in 4/2002, I have completely paid this account. This is how it shows up: Trans Union - "Cancelled by credit grantor" Most owed ~5K Credit limit 5K - 90 days 2 time, 60 days 1 time, 30 days 4 times Experian - "Closed/Current, was past due 120 days - Account closed at credit grantor's request" will continue to report until 12/2007 Equifax - "Account closed by credit grantor" status "Pays as agreed" last reported 4/2002 (they have the payment reflected here) 3. Credit Card2: This one is a discrepancy. I have already disputed this with Experian and the Credit Card company and Experian says they will totally remove this from my report. Trans Union - does not appear Experian - "Collection as of 7/2001" Equifax - does not appear In addition to the above three accounts, I have one more account that is in good standing reported in all three reports. This one is a bank credit line. I have already disputed one of these accounts and so hopefully what will remain after a few weeks is two bad marks and one good one. Trans Union has reported a credit score of 589. I hope this gives some details. I have also tried changing the title of this thread. Ok so now, which ones (retail/gas cc) do you think are easier to get? I will go even for a $100 credit line. That is why I applied for MACY'S in the first place!!! Thanks again in advance. This borad is great.
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? Here's a "start"....but, it describes cc's for those post-BK... http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...id=137432&highlight=cards+after+bk#post137432 I like this thread since it depicts the major-player cards that can be attained after some "healing" time and certain scores... and I fit this particular situation.. You might want to do a search for a specific card... IMHO...Cap1 secured fits your needs...
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? Hey just got approved for CapitalOne!!!!!! Thanks for your suggestion Ted. Today I was asking about the best cards etc. and Ted suggested Cap1, and guess what, I get back home and see the "Guaranteed Approval" offer from CapitalOne in mail. What a coincidence. I go to their website www.getmycard.com and applied with the reservation# and access code (enclosed in mail offer) and ...voila! Got approved for "immediate" credit limit of $200. At least, it is unsecured. Anyway, many of the veterans here may not relate to my excitement, but to me it seems like half the battle won. I am going out there and buying some popsicle with my new CapitalOne... So, whats in your wallet? (no pun intended) Tom
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? I COULDN'T EVEN GET $200 OUT OF CAPITAL ONE~~~DENIED LIKE 10 TIMES ALL SO-CALLED "PRE-APPROVED"!!! ...TILL JUST RECENTLY ($7,500)...
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? that sounds odd. So, I must be just lucky... So how did you get approved for $7500 after getting denied 10 times by Cap1. Is there a trade secret?
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? May be there is a difference between "pre-approved" and "guaranteed approval"?
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? Might have been MR COOKE...I did a PFB about the "GOLD" with a $72.00 annual fee...he call me and I told him I thought the GOLD card was a JOKE!!! Told him my H/H INCOME and 24+ years of perfect history etc... MAYBE HE DID SOMETHING???
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? CONGRATS on the Cap1 UNSECURED! If at all possible, stay away from sub-prime cards that offer immediate, guaranteed pre-approval, yet charge over $100 for application fees. You've tested the waters and are capable of avoiding THOSE kind of cards. I would have originally recommended Providian, but they've jacked up their interest rates over the past several months...and, they are trying to move their business away from the sub-prime...so approvals may be harder to get. Do some research (most recent info < 2 months old) before applying with them... http://www.sfweekly.com/issues/2002-04-17/feature.html/1/index.html
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? That's an interesting "conspiracy theory", George... To be frank, Mr. Cooke seems like a nice guy, BUT...I've noticed in my recent conversations that he can get a bit "devious" (ie. telling me that 14.9% is the best rate he could give me on a gold card...when my gold Kmart card has a 11.9% rate...I don't think he knew that, and I didn't want to bring it up..since I originally was asking him for a CL increase)... Overall, though, Mr. Cooke is a righteous dude...
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? CapOne has given me high APR as well 19.5%APR $65 Yearly Fee $0 Application $0 Processing $0 Handling etc. I will call Mr Cooke in 3 months. Or I will have my mother call him. If she can talk Papa Johns into delivering to a no-man's land, she can certainly talk with Mr. Cooke! Power to the people!!!
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? Maybe the gold card vs. the Kmart card rate difference is b/c those are the lowest rates offered on that particular card.
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? But the card I got is Platinum Cap One. Of course I have seen the plastic yet, but they asked me to choose the picture. It clearly showed platinum. Which means they can charge high interest and high fees no matter what. They are after all the feudal lords. We are the poor farmers.........
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? So they won't lower a platinium cards interest rate? Even after awhile?
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? I am hoping they will. I am thinking they will give it one year, then they may lower the interest rates and even lower (or remove) the yearly fees.
Re: What retail cards are easy ...? That would be good. Or maybe you'll be able to change to a different card that they offer.
