My housemate has a creditor who has been calling for the past 2 months. sometimes 3 or more times per day. this phone number is registered to me and my roommate hardly ever uses it. I have asked the creditor to stop calling repeatedly and said that this phone number is registered to me and not his "creditee" and with no results. what can I do... since this is not my debt and I do not have contact info. Some states have creditor collection laws to protect consumers from this. However, your situation is slightly different because you are not the debtor but the debtor lives at that address and used your number. Since the number belongs to you alone, ..

Ok Brownie, You don't have "contact information" for your "housemate"? TEEHEE Write a quick note and tell them never to call you on the phone again, per FDCPA, but mail is ok. Be sure to include the number not to be used. Just fax it and the calls should stop. .
