What Should I do?

I've been on pins and needles for the last 30 days over my latest dispute with Experian. I had disputed for the heck of it, a CLOSED - PAID OFF mortgage account (paid 11/01) and a CLOSED -TRANSFERRED home equity from 1996 (and later paid off to the creditor it was transferred to). The mortgage had several lates on it - I'd be embarassed to say how many - and the home equity loan had one late on it (30 day).

So I get the update and, they have now VERIFIED that each account is STILL OPEN (thus making me have 2 mortgages and a home equity loan right now, instead of just 1 mortgage) but they took off ALL of the lates. The accounts have been moved to a positive status.

My score went up 3 points.

Now, do I have to dispute it AGAIN and wait another 30 days for them to show these accounts are closed? I mean, it's showing that I'm darn near $100,000 more in debt that I actually am. Or is it remotely possible that I could call and get this taken care of over the phone?

Or should I wait to see what they do with my husband's disputes that are due next week?

I can't believe we got charged an additional 1.25% on our rate because of our bad mortgage payment history just 3 months ago.... but when they are removed, it's only a whopping 3 CE points. I was really hoping for 15 points.

But anyway, and more importantly, I can't possibly see how these were verified, as if they were, they wouldn't show that they were open. As of late last night when I checked the status, they were both still pending. The results were due on Monday.

Any suggestions on how to proceed???

Just checked my hubby's report - the same things are indicated on his report - moved to positive status, etc. but it still says 'investigation in process' on his report. (his dispute is technically due back next week).

Why would they move accounts to a positive status if they're still under investigation? They weren't that way yesterday.

Plus, from what I've read on this board, when a spouse disputes something on their report that is a joint account, the dispute is supposed to only affect the report that was disputed - but this appears to be proof that when you're linked to another person via a joint account, that the dispute/update can affect both reports.... does that seem like an accurate statement???

    Thoughts?

Au accounts seem linked too. I disputed an account that I am an au on, and the account showed up in dispute on my fiance's report too.

Read thru the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, they have violated your rights.

Also they have violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by not verifying the account.
