i have a question about some of the credit cards i've got right now. i have 5 open accounts and was really wondering if applying for anymore was a no-no. the reason i ask is because the cards i have dont really serve me any purpose and i dont think i will be using them much in the future. id like to close them and open up some better accounts like a wells fargo platinum and an emex blue cash as time goes on. my oldest TL was opened back in 2000. i suppose i ought to keep this open just because its the oldest account i have. (capital one student visa) for any who are wondering. the cards i have are: chevron card $1500 limit opened may 2001 cap1 $400 opened sep. 2000 sears gold mastercard $1000 opened aug. 2003 macys $1200.. opened may 2001 target guest card $500.. opened may 2001 anyway, maybe im stressing over nothing, but i really dont want these many credit cards. i only use the chevron one for gas and the sears mastercard for stuff. the macys comes in handy for sales sometimes and target is alright. i dunno. do u think i should just keep these open and let them age? i really would like a prime card later and i just wasnt sure if i would get declined for having so many open accounts. by the way, the balance is $0 on all these cards except for the mastercard and chevron (real low balance). let me know.. thanks for your time to whoever reads this. thanks. -rich
