I pulled my credit up and see a charge of 600 from a cable company that i was with about a year ago. Well i called turns out the box was never returned. Well i did cancel the account at the time cause i was moving and the roomate was suppose to return the box but never did. He totatlly forgot but brought it out of storage and gave to me. I called the cable company and they told me to bring it in. So how do i go about asking them to take it off the Credit Report? Promise to give the box back after they give me a letter saying that they will remove it from the CR's?

Yep... Here's the box... See it... Touch it... Feel it... Na, na, na... No grabbing... Now, type a letter saying that the account is supposed to be deleted, *AND* process the deletion through the CRA's now, *BEFORE* I let go of it...
Some places may be reluctant to give a deletion letter until they can actually see that they're seconds away from satisfaction. Make sure you get the letter in your hands, BEFORE handing it over...
Heck. I'd walk in with the box in one hand and a letter in the other hand. Say "sign here" that you'll not verfity this TL to the CRA as this is a non-disclosure statement (privacy) and then go dispute it. You can ask for them to take it off, but I'd hope that with this letter in hand that you could run a lawsuit if they failed to comply with the terms of the letter.
