Recently i Dispute an account on my credit reports fo $55.00 with a collection agency. It was removed from my equifax and transunion reports, but not my experian report, I disputed it again, but now the collection agency had sent me a bill for the $55.00. It isn't an account of mines. should i pay it or just continue to dispute it with experian.
NOOOO DO NOT PAY IT!! Especially if ya say it ain't yours! I know 55 ain't alot of money, but if you're not responsible - don't. Ya could keep disputing it, but that's not yours to do. I'd CRRR a letter 2 them, let em know this ain't yours, they better remove it, and it better not show up again on none of your reports.
Is this the first letter you received from the CA? Did it include notice of your right to request validation, and that if you didn't dispute it in 30 days, they would assume it was valid? See FDCPA: http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.htm#809
Do you have any information on the origin of the account? Do you believe the CA has misidentified you (the other CRAs did remove it following your dispute), or is there any information it might be id theft? Is there an address associated with this account, or an address on your CRs, at which you never lived? Has the CA identified the OC, the original account number, and what type of account this is, or is the OC showing on any of your reports?
