On my CR, I have several accounts that are still open, are they damaging my score? Should I request to have them closed?

Are the accounts in good standing? How old are they?

The accounts are quite old with a $0.00 Balance and show pays as agreed.

Amen! Keep them - they are actually very good for your credit score!

I take it that they are helping me then. My credit is atrocious and I need to get it repaired, it is actually costing me money.

I just sent out for my reports and logged the date I sent them out on my calender so I can better track them.

I feel like I am in an ever increasing vortex of chaos with my horrid credit, I am trying to fix it but don't know really where to start.

What should be the next course of action I should take?

I would start with the oldest negative info and dispute as not mine - what's the age of your baddies?

I agree about the open accounts. If they're open in good standing, leave them along. The history will help you.

Post some information when you get your report. Don't make it exact, you don't want to be traced. Then we can help you decide what to do.
