What the hell is suppressed

I called EQ like I do every morning to find out how my disputes are progressing and today, the CSR tells me that one of my accounts which took 3 disputes for it to be deleted is being suppressed. I said what does than mean? the CSR states thats just what we call a deletion. I am more like it is being suppressed from me seeing and everyone else seeing it. Does anyone know of or have real experience with this SUPPRESED thing. I personally prefer DELETION.

From what I understand, it is actually better than deletion. It means they delete the entry and put a block on the report, so that the OC can not reinsert the account again, even if they wanted to. That's my understanding, it may be wrong.

I hope that is true, because it was a 7K collection and it took 3 times before they deleted it.

    That's very interesting kbanger...

I had a mortgage on all of my reports that I disputed because it wasn't mine. They have been deleted on all 3 now, but replaced on all 3 with a "conseco mortgage" account. This account is paid in full with zero balance, opened in 1991 and never a late payment. I didn't dispute (even though I KNOW this isn't mine either...I've had the same mortgage since 1991 with someone else). I don't think it's hurting me so I haven't disputed. TU shows this conseco account as suppressed and I haven't even contacted them about it. Wasn't sure what that means, so now I'm totally confused!! Who would have put that account into "suppressed" status for me???

Anytime I negotiate a deletion with a CRA that failed to re-investigate or did not comply with the FCRA, I also request that the deleted items be suppressed.

According to EQ, it deletes the account (from view)and flags it invisible to any outside entities. It does not allow any attempts for the OC to re-enter the account on your report. The caveat is: It only blocks accounts that match exactly the TL information. So if the account is updated to show different status or pay history, it may allow it to be re-entered. Of course you can always dispute it again. I believe EX calls it 'cloaking', but I'm not sure. Only the manager-types at the CRAs deal with this and can do it.

I just had 4 accounts removed and suppressed. So far so good.

It's looking good over here too. I just got my first "prime" card in over 7 years, and just got off the phone and was successful with my request that the CL be bumped up to 5k, 0%BT, 15%. Also got approved for Best Buy $2600 CL. Still waiting on Citi AA and Household... Not to go off on a tangent but, FICO is funny...I haven't had an inquiry on my EQ for 12 months. I applied for 5 accounts this week (5 inquiries) and it didn't budge my score at all. Watch, I'll apply for credit next month and lose 20 points!

    I'm headin' home.

    CMA,
Congratulations on your entry into the prime market. If you do not mind me asking what were your scores and what was the history showing. right now I have a

    1. macys cl. 100 (don't laugh) history 4 years, never late
    2. Amex AU (green) 1 1/2 year history
    never late
    3. Plains commerce bank visa cl. 750 opened 7/02
will never be late, made 1st payment early

All the derogs will be defaulted student loans. I intend to somehow remove the two charge offs I have (providian & fcnb)

I hope that this will get me into the prime market

Some of the questions you're asking have to do with the inner workings of CRA's. Answers will not be forthcoming anytime soon.

I'd love to know what the ratios of income to tax deduction algorithms the IRS uses to trigger tax audits, (called DIF scores).

    LOL - Forget it.

But by all means, keep asking.

    :)

Thanks Banger! I went a little nuts with the credit apps last weekend because I had a 89 point gain on my EQ FICO, with all derogs removed. Score is 703. My EX is 662 with 2 paid collections, and TU is 639 with 5 derogs.

    I applied for the following:
GM/Household-$4K cl, 15%, bumped up to $5k today
    Best Buy/Household-$2600
Target $200 (millcbs stated it pulls EQ for my area, so I went into the store and they ended up pulling TU!
CitiAA -pending approval. Tried the BDD and am still waiting for approval. Called today and they said to call back Monday.
Household Visa -pending. Applied at the same time as the Best Buy card. Approved instantly for Best Buy, but for some reason they didn't get to this app until later. I have 3 hards from Household which I will dispute later as dups. There is no reason they should have to pull 3 hards within 5 days.

My CC before discovering this board (7/02):
Providian: $3k 2 yrs (they won't budge, upped to 29%)
    Cap1 $500 9 mths (Now 1500 PFB/Mr Cooke)
    Cap1 $300 7 mths (Now 600 -PFB/Mr Cooke)

So who do I talk to about getting a place like the FAQs to post testimonies and personal thanks to CNs???

I don't have the balls yet to do AMEX. Maybe later this fall..... I didn't know the back door was slammed shut when I did the citi BDD, so I'm a test case to see if I can pry it open. The chances are that I'll miss out on the citi as well.

I believe Equifax calls this suppression a "P Code"...
    same idea, different wording.

Who is Mr. Cooke and how do I contact him about my capital one account?

Well, suppression isn't always a good thing.

I have 3 good accounts currently suppressed over at Transunion and they told me that they were suppressed pending Creditor update and that they couldn't unsupress them until the creditor said so. I was feeling like crap the day I called, so I didn't fight much, but I intend on calling back soon to see what the heck is going on.

Re: Re: What the hell is suppressed

Good luck! I have good accounts suppressed at TU and they say the creditor can report .......ha! The creditors ARE reporting and they won't "uncloak" them. George had the fab idea of getting new account numbers (I'm going to "lose" a visa!) so that they might get reported again!

Do they change the card number if the old card gets destroyed somehow (with a nice strong magnet, for example)??? I had that happen a couple of years ago (forgot that I had a refrigerator magnet in my wallet) but don't remember if they changed the number or not when they sent a replacement card.
