When I had to do it with my local bank they did... don't want anyone using the "lost" card now do we?
Now that I think about it, I've had a couple of debit cards where the strip practically wore off from use and the replacement cards were different numbers. Things that make you go HMMMMMM..... (if I don't get the TL back, at least I get a new card!)
Doesn't look like the demagnetized card trick for reinsertion would work (unless the policy changed). I came across a bunch of old statements and in with it were two of the "card holders" (what they mail the card on), both with the same CL and the same card number (unfortunately)...I assume one of them was the replacement for the card I killed. Looks like they were cheapskates back then with CLI's as well...took almost 3 years for them to give me an unsolicited CLI (from $1000 to $1500), even with hefty payments (and no derogs).
