Okay I get a letter in the mail today from equifax. It is for a chargeoff I disputed. It isn't mine. 100% sure. The letter says: We have reasearched the credit account. The results are, ONCE an acct has been opened, the acct may appear on the credit file for 7 or 10 years from the date of last activity. The odd thing is that the credit report they send along with the letter only has the charge off on it!! There is NOTHING else on it. The letter is dated for 11/26. Well yesterday I pulled my equifax report and it had everything I've ever had on my report still there and the charge off doesn't show up on that report! Could this mean I have a split file and the only tradeline on the 2nd file is the charge off? If so what do I do about this? Should I even do anything at all? I just don't want to apply for a loan and have the second, bad credit report pulled and not the one with everything else on it.
I just pulled PG and the credit report they are listing is the one with only the charge off!!!!! What do I do?
I've read posts on this board with some direct e-mail contacts for Equifax that have really helped people. You might try searching for those, or maybe someone will chime in here with a contact for you. Otherwise, I think I would call (hopefully with a contact name from here) and explain the situation. Some people seem to have had luck here doing that. Have you called the creditor that's listing the TL to see if they even have an account for you on their records? I hope this is resolved for you soon!!
Here's the contacts I have. robin.holland@equifax.com Or try this person: Veronica.Jones@equifax.com 404-745-7870 Or this one: Bob.Cutrone@equifax.com
1. If you disputed an account as "not mine" they must verify with the OC. If they cannot verify, they must delete it. Their results do not show that. 2. Whenever you dispute anything, they must send you a consumer report that is based upon your file. They did not send you this. 3. Whenever you request your report from a CRA, the CRA must provide you with all information in your file at the time of the request. They did not do that. Looks a like a 3 FCRA violations, worth up to $1,000 each (if you can prove damages). At least, you can trade them for a full deletion.
Do you think I should email them like suggested earlier? Also, should I mention anything about reinsertion? I have a letter from Equifax from early NOV. saying that the account isn't reporting on my report.
