Okay I get a letter in the mail today from equifax. It is for a chargeoff I disputed. It isn't mine. 100% sure. The letter says: We have reasearched the credit account. The results are,
ONCE an acct has been opened, the acct may appear on the credit file for 7 or 10 years from the date of last activity.

The odd thing is that the credit report they send along with the letter only has the charge off on it!! There is NOTHING else on it. The letter is dated for 11/26. Well yesterday I pulled my equifax report and it had everything I've ever had on my report still there and the charge off doesn't show up on that report! Could this mean I have a split file and the only tradeline on the 2nd file is the charge off? If so what do I do about this? Should I even do anything at all? I just don't want to apply for a loan and have the second, bad credit report pulled and not the one with everything else on it.

PS. I forgot to mention that I got another letter from equifax last week that said this account is NOT reporting on your credit report!!! Do I send them a copy of that letter and then threaten to sue for reinsertion or something?? PLEASE HELP!!
