    not mine by the way.

I got a new phone number about month ago and from day 1, i've been getting collection calls for some loser. to make it worse, its 2 accts -- Cap 1 and MBNA. i've repeated told the collections rep to stop calling me and that the person they are looking for doesn't not own this number. that obviously didn't work. both companies are still calling and harassing me and they are getting more rude and hanging up on me.

what can i do? is there a way to file some type of complaint? does fair credit laws apply to my situation?

im really sick and fed up with all this BS.

Next time you get a call in regards to this , immediately ask for the account managers supervisor and again tell them that you just received this telephone number and do not want any more calls and to remove the number from their data base..

Also, since you have told both collectors that you are not the party they are trying to reach, yet they continue to call, file a complaint with your telephone company for telephone harassment. You may need to get a new number, or take legal action against both collectors, so you should start the record now. If it continues, file a complaint with your local district attorney. A call or letter from your DA will usually stop it.

State Attorney Generals will also get involved in this kind of thing in some places.
