Yesterday I went to circut city and charged a palm as a gift , I gave the gift right afterwards and was at the hospital for my father in law, when I got home there was a message to call cc, I called and they said that they gave me the wrong palm and it was a more expensive one and wants me to bring back the one they gave me by mistake , I told them I had already gave it as a gift how can I ask for it back, they want to charge the difference to my circut city card , I really can afford it ,what can I do?

Not your fault. I say, SCREW THEM. They aren't in the holiday spirit, are they?

The store is stressing because the manager will have to answer for the loss and the clerk that rang up the purchase will likely get disciplined for it if the price difference was signifigant. Most retail managers are on a bonus track that includes overall sales which are reduced by losses.

This isn't your fault. In the interest of customer service, in the least, they should eat the extra costs.

If they try to charge the remainder to your card - dispute the charge.

Glad to know I'm not the only dishonest one, if that is the word for it....

You paid for it believing that the clerk rung up the correct item, they made the mistake. If that is dishonest, OH Well!

Nothing dishonest about it. Look, if they'd called you before you gave it away as a gift,, if you're like me, you may well have felt guilty and taken it back (if they were at least reasonably nice about the whole thing). But, there's really nothing that says you would actually have to. They handed you a product. You handed them some money. They handed you a receipt. End of transaction. It's not like you shoplifted or something.

Don't even think about it again. But keep the receipt someplace safe. :)

I just thought of something....If the gift receiver has a warrantee on the gift, the receipt may not reflect the proper item. Even if they need to return it for another one exactly the same, the receipt provided at the time of sale may not reflect the item you received. Just a thought....

    Happy Holidays!

Well, if I'd paid for a product, went home and found out I had something of lower quality, I'd definitely raise hell about it.

You didn't get what you paid for, you got something better in this case...

if I had EVER had a good experience with circuit city employees in my ENTIRE life, I'd say, take it back... but....

do what you feel is right.

You've got a point (Hi Erica!, BTW). I'd go back and demand they amend the receipt to properly reflect what they sent home with you. If the balk, call the BBB.

Another thought. Something on the receipt must indicate what they really sent home with you, or otherwise how would they know to call you. When you checked out, they must have scanned the actual item, right?

When they gave you the item, don't they initial the receipt (saying you go the item). The NEVER check the receipt to make sure it matches what they have just handed you (at least they haven't with me). You could go buy a PC and a $10 CD (pay for it separately 2 diff. receipts) when they bring the PC to your car, give them the CD receipt, they initial it. Then a couple hours later, go back in and give them the PC receipt and say you never got it. I'm not saying to do this, but I'm saying I am sure it has been done. KHM

To be honest they could have given me a cheaper one and I wouldnt have known the difference, I just picked out what I could afford , when you pay you go to a different area to pick it up, I sent my husband to get it while I was getting some cds.
