A friend of mine has a negative listing on his CR from JC Penny which was opened back in '94. He has unsuccessfully been able to have this removed through the CRA's. The CRA's and JC Penny say it a valid debt, which it is. Now should he demand validation of this debt? Since it was 7 years ago do you think they still have the app showing his signature on it? This account was charged off in 97 or 98 so it won't be coming off anytime soon. How good of records do they keep and has anyone else had any luck having negatives removed from JcPenny. Thanks in advance.
I had 3 late payments removed from them but only after I paid the debt in full. From my dealings with them they keep very good records. Alex ------------------- Free Credit Repair Help: http://www.Creditinsiders.com
I just had a negative item from them corrected to a positive. First of all, let me say that I had a letter from them saying that they closed my account per my request and they reported it as closed by credit grantor. I told them, in a letter, that they better fix their mistake or I will sue. I also enclosed a copy of the letter with the pertinent information highlighted for their benefit. They fixed the closure statement, but left it as a negative account, I think R5 or R9. I can't remember because I'm at school and not at home right now. Either way, I had Junum dispute the tradeline again to get the lates off of it and they succeeded. Don't know how, but they did. I posted a copy of the letter here at one point. I would be happy to post it again for you to modify for your needs, but that won't be for another 8 hours or so. I will do it when I get home, if I'm not falling asleep by then. (been here since 8:15 am, going till 9:30 pm.) I hope you understand. Good Luck!
Thanks Erica, I would appreciate it. Should I have them sign up for Junum and have them dispute it? Let me know if you could how long it took and how many times it took to dispute. Thanks again.
Not falling asleep yet, but I don't remember typing that post today. LOooooOng day. Anyways, here is the letter: Dear Sir or Madam: This letter is to inform you that you are reporting incorrect information to all three Credit Bureaus. I received a letter from you, see enclosure, dated August 24, 1999, that states that I closed the account. You are reporting that the account was â??closed by credit grantorâ?. Please update your records and forward them to the appropriate Credit Bureau. Also, in reviewing my consumer credit report, I noticed that the account is listed twice with Trans Union. The correct inquiry should be similar to: Never late, closed in 1/1997, closed at consumers request. I demand that this also be reported correctly. I assume that you are familiar with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and know that reporting false or inaccurate information is in violation of this act. In accordance with this Act, I would like written documentation of your efforts to resolve this matter mailed to the above address. I appreciate your prompt response to this matter and look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, I hope this helps you. As for Junum, I joined them in April and cancelled in August. They only had 3 deletions and 2 updates in that time. I had over 30 negatives to get gone, so to speak. Others have had varying success, but I don't want you to tell them to sign up without them verifying their services. Everything that Junum does you can do yourself. Good Luck!
