What to do when they don't respond?

I disputed an item with Experian and they told me three times they had already verified it and of course added the "disputed by" line. I then contacted the original creditor and sent them a letter requesting anything that supported their position that this was my account. That was on November 13 and I have not received anything. I followed up with a phone call at thirty days, where they told me "but you did not file for bankruptcy in 1998" and where I said "no kidding...that's part of what I have been trying to tell you, this is not my account".

At that point, they removed the "included in bankruptcy" stuff in their records and told me they were still investigating the claim that this was not my account. To date...I have received no further information from them.

Now...should I reqest Experian to verify again, citing that the creditor has at least changed that part of the entry? I am really lost as to what to do next. Should I send them a letter via certified mail and include an intent to sue letter? Where do I go from here?

    Thanks for any help!
