It's been months seen I posted here, so hello again, everybody! I'm back on the saddle again.

My question pertains to the dates shown on listings from collection agencies. In my TU report, a collection account says:

    Updated 06/2001
    Placed 04/2001
Status as of 06/2001: Collection account.

This debt was from 1997, and it looks like the CA is "renewing" the debt, as if it's a recent debt. I've disputed it a few times, but I haven't had much luck getting it removed. Isn't this illegal for the CA to change the date? Origianally, it had the correct dates from 1997, but now it has changed. Please help!

Do U have an older report showing the 97 date?

Yes, I have an older report with the original date. But how can I go about it so that I can also delete the entire entry, instead of proving to the credit bureau that the account is in fact mine?

    Thanks!

Did you send The CA a validation letter?

A copy of an old credit report doesn't prove any more than a new credit report. :)

You are just showing them what they used to say about that account, vs what they now say about that account. It does not prove anything else!!

Get yourself some coffee, hehe. Need to wake up the brain cells. Are you and leo related? ;)
