I will admit, I am confused. Have spent 11 hours reading posts, still havent figured out the best way. This is what I have that I am trying to take care of. 1st is a Capital One CC that is 4 years old â?? Charge Off. Little over 2K owed. Has not been any attempt to collect on this for over 2 years. I am trying to get this off my reports. 2nd is a CA account, little over 400 owed, 5 years old, no collection attempts for 3 years. Trying to get this off my report. 3rd Car repossession from Fairlane Credit. 5 years old, account sold to a CA (Aquisheten and Associates I believe it is, I know I donâ??t have the spelling right). 8K owed. No recent attempts for collection. Trying to get both the OC and CA of my reports Several attempts to dispute with CRA with no avail. What would some of you seasoned proâ??s at this recommend?
You have been so kind to reply to my questions, at least I can try and repay now. I don't know a lot about chargeoff's or repo's but I do have this to offer as advice: As far as the old CA,,, my best experience has been to debt validate. Some immediately delete. Some try and respond, but usually none of them have the requirements to meet full debt validation, especially after 5 years. And more than likely, they won't report the debt as disputed on your credit report. If they don't, its a violation. Then you can sue for that violation. More than likely they will remove it, since it is not a large amount, rather than go to court. I was skeptical of Debt validation, but it has been the best thing that ever happened to my credit report. There is a sticky on Debt Validation and there is a recent thread that refers to the violations...I think it was originally posted referring to an OC, not a CA, but still the information holds true.
