I keep getting collection letters addressed to my 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER!!! What the??? The only thing is the last name is really butchered. It kinda sounds like ours. It is for some book club that we NEVER joined and we NEVER got any books from them. What do I tell them? It says they are going to put a judgement against her if it isn't paid! Can they put a judgement against a 2 year? I Can I just ignore this?
only if they get her ssn and you dont fight it. anybody can sign up for those offers in your name so i would recommend you write to the company stating that you would like to see where you signed for the UPS/FedEx package before you send them a dime.
I don't know if they have her social security number or not. Do I just send a validation letter even though the last name is wrong?
I would contact them... SIMPLY STATE THE FACTS... NEVER GOT ANYTHING IN THE MAIL... A TWO-YEAR-OLD CAN NOT ENTER INTO A BINDING CONTRACT... Don't let it slide...it may come back later...AND BITE HER WHEN SHE IS 18
send a letter asking for proof you requested it and you signed for/received it. tell them if they can't provide it that they had better stop collecting. they wont have her ssn - so i wouldn't worry about it. good luck to them if they can get a judgement for what - probably a few dollars? those things are such a scam...i signed up years ago for my daughter and they are still sending them every month, i send back return to sender... THEY WONT CANCEL ME!!!!!
My oldest had the same thing happen with a GUITAR MAGAZINE...one FREE issue...when the bill comes write CANCEL and no further obligation... NEVER EVEN GOT THE SECOND MAGAZINE...assumed they got the CANCEL... 4 or 5 months later COLLECTION LETTERS...3 IN ONE WEEK... Can you imagine the COSTS INVOLVED IN COLLECTING $19.95???? I got a phone number for them after notifying them by mail 3 times...I TOLD THEM IN SO MANY TERMS THAT THEY BETTER DROP IT OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES TO THE TUNE OF $1,000.00 PLUS COURT COSTS!!!
I am sending a validation letter with a line in it saying, This notice shall also serve as a limited cease and desist order and a demand that all future communication be in writing. Is this a good idea?
Re: Re: What???? hbb26992 Do this, if infact they have your 2 year old daughters ss#, which might not be the case. Send the CA a cease and desist letter and a validation letter all in the same letter. The trick is that most CA's don't report until after 30 days to when they get the account. If you send the validation letter quick that delays the CA to reporting anything negative to your daughters credit (which sounds really stupid in the first place), If you thye put it on your daughters credit report YOU HAVE THEM FOR NOT VALIDATING, if you also send them the C&D and they put it on the report you ALSO HAVE THE WONDERFUL CREDIT BUREAU FOR ANOTHER VIOLATION, which then you can sue them for being in violation and report the to the FTC. Re: Re: What???? "IF" somebody really does call--->SORRY SHE IS TAKING A NAP WITH HER BINKY AND TEDDY BEAR...HOW DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER AND WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TALK TO MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER...ARE YOU A PERVERT??? CAN I TALK TO YOUR SUPERVISOR???
Re: Re: Re: What???? George! That is a good one. I am hoping they call now so I can use that line!!!!
